Getting to Know
Dr. Stacy
Navigating family life takes patience, love, and discovery with a little luck. Dr. Stacy Sue Rosello has 25+ years of motherhood and 30 years of professional experience working with children and families as an occupational therapist reaching local, regional, national and international communities. As the nationally recognized, award-winning American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) clinician for her innovative, expert understanding of families and leadership in family-centered practice, Stacy is the family-centered OT™. Her national advocacy through a call to action with Dr. Ellen McLaughlin, FAOTA and Dr. Beth DeGrace, FAOTA and significant contributions with AOTA colleagues on a briefing paper for family in the OT profession ignited AOTA's inclusion of family, family occupations and family-centered practice in the upcoming 2025 practice framework, and spearheaded consideration by the AOTA board for family as a strategic practice area. Stacy's evolving theoretical model grounded in true-to-live clinically lived autoethnographic experiences and validated by 25+ years of esteemed OT colleagues qualitative literature and emerging quantitative literature, The Science of Family Occupations, conceptualizes family life and informs her occupation-based practice. Additionally, as a Developmental Individual Differences Relationship-Based (DIR®) clinician and distinguished Senior faculty at Profectum™, Stacy embodies the DIR® model in clinical practice, mentoring, and teaching. Understanding the interconnectedness of occupation and relationship offers a rich family lens, encompassing diversity and culture to create meaningful moments in family life. Making the Connection® includes a strong, often overlooked, emphasis on the value of “doing” in everyday living, the core tenet of OT practice. Stacy's gentle and kind nature is heartfelt, and passion is vibrant. Her goal is to embrace all families on their individual journey to achieve health and happiness throughout the many years of their dynamic family life.
